October 17 2010 build
| This is the article of a development build of Skyscraper Simulator.|
It has been confirmed a good-faith contribution to the Skyscraper wiki.
This build fixes 3 major issues. The first fix is the distorted sound issue - the problem only happened on certain Windows machines, and was caused by Crystal Space's sound buffer value not being large enough. The second makes the TextClear option (previously TextNoClear) in the INI file enabled by default - this fixes text-to-texture corruption issues. And finally, the third is a fix for the text-to-texture mipmapping problems (buttons disappearing or getting distorted when you walk away from them, but they look fine close up) - this was done first by modifying the Crystal Space source code to allow raw exporting of the texture, having Skyscraper render the objects to a non-mipmapped texture first, and then copying (using that export modification) the image data to a new standard mipmapped texture. Normally Crystal Space would run the textures through an automatic mipmapper that used a hardware function that was broken on certain machines - this prevents it from doing that, and has it generate mipmaps manually later on along with everything else in the simulator. If you're wondering what mipmaps are, they are smaller versions of the original texture that fade in and out of view depending on your distance (so if you're right next to a button, you're seeing the original texture - then as you move away, it fades into one half the size, then a quarter of the size, etc). This build also has a number of checks to prevent crashes in certain areas, a new platform entry in the statistics window, and the miscdoor88.gif image.
