September 9 2009 build
| This is the article of a development build of Skyscraper Simulator.|
It has been confirmed a good-faith contribution to the Skyscraper wiki.
This build has the new text-to-texture feature, and the old button texture packages have been removed. This also has a memory leak fix for the floor beeps. The new commands are AddText and AddTextRange, and work by first loading a texture with Load or LoadRange, and then using either of those commands to draw the text on top of it (and creating a new texture in the process - the new texture is in memory only and is lost when the app shuts down). To draw multiple phrases onto a texture, see how I did the "Call Cancel" button. Fonts are included in the data/fonts directory (I converted the Nimbus Sans fonts I was using to TTF, but there's some alignment problems with them). Full command syntax is in the guide. The next feature I will be adding is support for different texture prefixes for the floor indicators, floor signs, etc (so instead of them automatically searching for ButtonL for example, you'd be able to set a prefix of "Sign" and it'll try to load SignL instead) - I didn't have time to do that tonight.
Please note that all buildings need to be updated for this version, since the old button texture system has been completely removed. All the buildings that are in SVN have been fixed, and I also changed some floor buttons in the 500-story Simple building (so there's now a button for floor 500 hehe).
Linux and Mac builds will be coming soon, but I need to rebuild Crystal Space for both of those (there was a bug in Crystal Space that prevented the text from being drawn in the right place, and I made a patch for it) - the Windows package already has the patched/rebuilt version, and the patch itself is called cs_texturefont.patch.
